Seeds of Change
One of things the women at the safe house are doing is gardening to produce their own vegetables and herbs for food. We love seeing the women gaining confidence with each new task they are learning.
As Lisa was visiting at the safe house, some of the women were beginning to plant the seeds into the dirt of the new raised garden beds. It was very clear to Lisa that one of our women had done this before. She told the woman, “Wow, you’re really good at this! I can tell you’ve done this before.” Immediately her body posture straightened up and she was beaming.
Her daughter who was looking on was carefully watching her mom and planting seeds herself. This mom was able to pass this skill to her daughter. They continued to work and help show the other women and children how to plant the seeds.
These women and their children who used to be in a state of trauma, trying to survive each day, can now gain strength and confidence to be the mothers they long to be for themselves and their children. They are beginning to find the path from surviving to thriving with the holistic care, new tools and hope through Jesus.
This is why we do what we do, bringing hope, healing, and freedom to women in crisis.
