Becoming a Family

Stories of Impact

Sometimes you don’t know the full extent of your impact until healing begins and a safe stable home is established. Here at Dare for More we desire to create an environment of safety, freedom, love, compassion, healing, and ultimately family. Part of the way we do that is through bringing staff on that exemplify these qualities from the counselors to the caregivers, to the cooks and grounds crew.

Our staff since we opened our doors in January have come together bonding and caring for one another like family. They minister to each woman and her children that walk through the doors of the safe house and welcome them into the Dare for More family. The sounds of children and their moms laughing and singing in the halls and rooms bring such joy from a place of brokenness.

We have a couple that both serve on our team, one helps lead our sewing program and the other keeps the grounds and helps drive our women and children to important court or medical meetings.

During one of these times he was able to witness a much prayed for and anticipated reuniting of a mother with one of her children who was placed in an orphanage due to the abuse in the home. Because Dare for More was able to provide a safe, stable place, this mom was able to be reunited with her child. The joy was just overflowing, not only for this mom, and the whole household at DFM Guatemala, but also our driver. He said “my heart is so happy that I got to be a small part of this.”

My heart is so happy that I got to be a small part of this!

This team is truly a family, walking through each hard, dark situation together. Supporting each woman and caring for her children. Creating a refuge for those who need it most.
