Ministry Update April 2025

It seems like everywhere we turn lately, the news is filled with stories about immigration, border security, and the growing concerns surrounding nonprofit organizations. While these topics are complex and often debated, we want to take a moment to share what we see firsthand in Guatemala and how these realities impact the women and children we serve.

The Reality of Immigration and Trafficking

In Guatemala, the effects of migration are deeply personal. Every day, we see families making the difficult decision to leave their homes in search of a better life, often heading toward the U.S. border. Others pass through Guatemala, part of a much larger journey north. The desperation that fuels these decisions also creates heartbreaking dangers—particularly for women and children.

Traffickers have seized the opportunity created by an open border to prey on the vulnerable. Many women believe they are being helped, only to discover too late that they have been deceived. Instead of reaching safety, they are sold into trafficking networks, and in many cases, their children are taken from them and sold as well. This is not a political issue; it is a human crisis. The reality is that border security saves lives. Every policy that disrupts traffickers and prevents them from luring women and children into exploitation is a step toward protecting the most vulnerable.

At Dare for More, our mission is to provide women with real solutions—offering safety, stability, and hope right where they are. We want to be part of the answer, ensuring that women and their children don’t feel forced to make dangerous choices out of desperation.

Nonprofit Integrity: A Commitment to Transparency

Another topic making headlines is the discovery that many nonprofits have been used as money-laundering channels rather than legitimate sources of aid. Unfortunately, this is something we’ve been aware of for years.

For a long time, organizations like Dare for More were encouraged to apply for grants through large agencies such as USAID. But we quickly realized that the grant process was not an open door for those who truly met the criteria. Instead, it became clear that funding was often predetermined, and many of the groups receiving grants were part of larger schemes that funneled money back to those in power rather than using it for the purposes intended.

After years of applying and seeing no real opportunity for honest funding, we stopped pursuing government grants altogether. Dare for More has never received funding from any government entity, and while we would love to see a future where grant funding operates with integrity, we are grateful that God has always provided for us in other ways.

Trusting God for the Future

Through all of this, one thing remains constant—God is faithful. We have watched Him meet our needs in miraculous ways, often through the generosity of people like you who believe in this mission. While we don’t rely on government grants, we do rely on His provision and the partnerships He brings our way.

As we move forward, we continue to pray for wisdom and discernment, trusting that God will connect us with the right people and the right resources to accomplish His work. Thank you for standing with us. Your support—through prayers, giving, and spreading the word—allows us to continue fighting for the women and children who need hope the most.
