La Vega is the third largest city in the Dominican Republic. It is known as the heart of the Dominican Republic because of its location on the island. South of the city lies the Cordillera Central, the largest mountain system of the Dominican Republic. Here you can river raft, mountain bike, rappel, and go horseback riding.

The workshop serves as an opportunity for moms in the barrio to come and provide for their families with honor and dignity. What started as a place to bead flip flops to sell at the local markets is now a full-blown production facility equipped with industrial sewing machines and an assembly line of women making gorgeous bags. From the classic hobo design to the “can’t find too many uses for these” pouches, New Hope bags are one of a kind creations. Each bag provides sustainability for two primary purposes: the women who make them have a good job at a fair wage, and the proceeds go right back into the girls at New Hope providing them with an education, regular food, a safe place to live and grow and so much more.

Dare for More has worked in partnership with New Hope since their earliest days when they were rescuing from a little shack on a hill in the barrio. Through the years our role has flexed as they have grown and moved from one location to the next. Our focus is always on the girls as we find ways to help them dream and grow. From school supplies to clothes and toiletries, we help keep these growing girls supplied. One of our most recent projects was building a playground area with volleyball equipment and other great outdoor play equipment so the girls can get outside and run and play. We also still purchase a large number of bags every year to make available to women where we speak and teach in the USA.
