We reflect over the goodness of God — at least we should. There is always the necessity of saying “thank you.” I was taught that principle as a small girl by every adult in my life. “What do you say?” as they handed me a candy. “Don’t forget to say thank you,” my mother reminded with stern eyes that left no doubt of its importance.
So I come here today to publicly say thank you to God for meeting with us in ways I still am reflecting on. The battle was fierce at times and I could feel the tug of war in my own spirit. God had given me a specific message and I knew it was liberating to the soul and empowering to the heart and mind. I knew because he had taken me there first and he had taught me in his school of growing.
I asked him to meet with us in a way that we would know it was of him and nothing that a person could do. And he did! Wave after wave of the Holy Spirit’s nudging and teaching and softening.
There were so many people that he used to teach us. Allison and Damaris in the pre-conference set the stage and prepared our hearts for Friday night. Kevin and the praise team gave us an opportunity to focus on Jesus as the only one who is worthy of our worship. Janiece took us to Persia and let us walk with Esther. Damaris encouraged us with song and message. And the list goes on….
Everyone had one goal — lift the name of Jesus higher! The Word of God changed us and it empowered us and filled us to leave and be okay with that empty filling of inadequacy knowing that it is that very feeling that pushes us to Jesus.
I trust that you are allowing him to be the wind in your sail. The saturation of your life. And the controller of your actions. Remember we go to him daily. We focus on the task before us today. And we trust him for tomorrow.
Somebody in need. They will round the corner of our lives at the appointed time. God’s design is to flow through us to them. So let’s stay empty and seek him, and all these things will be added to us.
