I like entertainment and it is fun to just sit back and allow someone to wow you with their abilities, however, Dare for More is not in the entertainment business. When the staff and volunteers sat down to plan this year’s DFM LIVE and GLAM events we had two goals in mind — that God would be glorified and that people would be pointed to the source of help, hope, and change. I long for women to take that next step in their spiritual walk with God.
I hope you understand my heart on this one — I want women to have a great weekend. I want them to enjoy each and every moment as they connect with others and get away from all the busyness that life brings. But there is more to it than just a weekend getaway or a time to hang out with the girls. We long to combine the need to get away and hang with the girls with the need to get in God’s Word and find answers, hope, and assurance. We are all seeking answers, struggling with hurts, and needing strength, wisdom, and more for the journey.
I know that no one involved with the events has the answers to all of life’s problems or has the ability to bring anyone peace, joy, or solutions. My sole reliance is on God who knows each woman personally and has all she needs wrapped up in Himself. I have experienced that in my own life and I long for others to experience Him in a real and personal way.
As I sit at my desk today, reflecting back on everything that happened at DFM LIVE and GLAM last weekend, I am rejoicing over answers to prayer and God’s goodness to meet with us. One lady voiced it perfectly,
“I came in need but I didn’t realize how great my need was. As I sang the songs, it seemed as if a weight was being lifted. The more I sang about God’s goodness and his love, the more I felt loved. Then we dove into the Word and it was as if God was addressing each of my burdens. The bigger He got, the smaller my issues became.”
Hundreds of women and teen girls, from many places around the USA gathered — God met with us and He demonstrated once again that He loves us and that He longs to connect with us and to help us. Now the event is over, but I hope that the lessons we learned and the “AHA” moments we had stay with us as we move forward.
If you attended the event, I would love to hear how God worked in your heart and life. Feel free to comment or send me an email at email@example.com.
