KIDS CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE GLOBALLY
I am blessed to own many copies of God’s Word. I have an array of study Bibles, journal Bibles, family Bibles and that is not counting the access I have to Bibles online. But there are still many in the world who do not own their own copy of God’s Word. So that is why Dare for More is excited to be getting Bibles to some very amazing girls this Christmas season.
One of our partners in the Dominican Republic is New Hope Girls Academy. New Hope is a school and a safe house for girls between the ages of 5 and 15 who have been trafficked or due to poverty and abuse are at high risk. Joy Reyes and her team give these girls a chance to learn and grow in the safety of a stable and loving environment. At New Hope, they hear about the love of God for them and of the gift of salvation.
Providing for the daily care and educational needs of over 45 girls is a daunting task and that is why our partnership with New Hope is important. As Joy and I were discussing the needs for the girls, the topic of personal Bibles came up. Although many of these girls have trusted Christ and are growing in their faith, none of them own a Bible.
DFM went to work on this very special Christmas project. We believe God has directed us to create partnerships so that the whole body of Christ can get in on the blessings. With this philosophy in mind, I presented an opportunity for special projects to Christian school teachers and principals at an educator’s meeting where I spoke. Several of them jumped at the opportunity to have their school make a difference for those in need. Pleasant View Christian School in Tennessee partnered with DFM to purchase Bibles for the girls at New Hope. The elementary students at Pleasant View have taken on the Bible project and are excited to give a girl their age a Bible for Christmas.
This type of partnership is great for several reasons. The obvious is that girls who have never had their own copy of the Bible will have one in their language. It will be theirs and I promise you it will be special to them. Secondly, the children of Pleasant View are catching a global vision of what God has called us to do. They are already part of God’s big plan at an early age. What a cool thing!
The opportunities are endless when it comes to the needs of people and the work of God. We are excited to be a part of the solution for those in need around the world. God is using employees, school children, college students, church bodies, and more to personally provide for the needs through Dare for More.
