Females make up 70% of the poor, 70% of illiterates, and 80% of trafficked persons.
There was a time when I did not know these startling statistics. I did not know that because of these conditions, and other factors, women are expendable, exploited, and unreached.
But now I know. God has taken me around the world in the last two years where I have looked into their eyes, heard their stories, and wondered how I would ever be the same. The struggle for sameness didn’t last long — I don’t want to be the same — I don’t want to pretend I didn’t see — God is at work and I want to be part of His work.
Once I surrendered myself and Dare for More Ministries to be part of God’s solution, regardless of what that meant, things begin to really fall into place.
As a result, I am excited to announce the launch of Hearts & Hope Global Solutions. We are not starting a new ministry but we are focusing our global efforts under this new umbrella as we become more intentional about helping the women of the world.
The world may feel that women and little girls are not worth the effort but God strongly disagrees. There are opportunities for them to have a new life and a strong future.
Our mission is to develop partnerships between communities in North America and communities where women and girls are abused and exploited in high risk places around the world. These partnerships work to rescue, restore, and provide prevention so that they can live in dignity, worth, and freedom.
- Empower local leaders to reach out to women and girls in their communities who are in desperate need of help and hope.
- Equip community partners to assist those in need by addressing the whole person.
- Address the complex causes of poverty including material, spiritual, emotional, social, economic, and educational needs.
- Transform the lives of women and girls through a focus on sustainability, independence, and faith, so that they can become the person God designed them to be.
Our first goal is to stabilize their daily lives by making sure their basic needs are provided. These needs include food, clean water, safe shelter, healthcare, and clothing.
Women and girls who have been abused have many emotional needs. We address these needs by providing them with counseling, mentoring, and spiritual guidance. We also provide a sense of family, love, and support through these caregivers.
Our goal is to help these women and girls break the chains of bondage that have held them and find freedom and a strong future. In order to accomplish these things we equip them with vocational and life skills training. We send trainers in various areas to give the women vocational choices.
Hang On for More
In the next few weeks I will be posting a series of videos sharing with you exciting stories of lives that have already been impacted. I will share our BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal). And I will tell you how you can get involved.
